Who decides

The City says the old transit commission ended on July 1, 2026. The City names 12 trustees, the County six, and the state three. Six towns name one each. Mecklenburg County's commissioners levy the sales taxes for transit and roads, and voters must approve them. The County sends 60% of the newer 1% tax to this authority. It sends 40% to the area's cities and towns for roads. Voters do not elect this board. The board is appointed, not elected.
